1.
In a sand castle society When the tide hits the sand and wood we lament It’s not easy to live below the line There’s no rest in this fortress But most are soundly asleep dreaming Very american dreams while the tide around us is rising On a beach towel nearby lay A bouquet of ordinary Monsters plucked from the Garden of thieves and arranged by Their own assumptions Victims only to the commodity Sometimes, it’s alright.

about

Sandcastle Society is Toosh's first single, coming out ahead of their debut EP, Ordinary Monsters. It's about how, if american society is exceptional, it’s exceptional only in its necrophilia and denialism. It’s about feeling trapped in social relations that are made of and remade by crisis and violence, valorizing themselves in the loop we call capitalism. It’s about that special feeling some of us have; that in the face of climate change and pandemic, this time it really will be the end: We live in a castle made of sand and it sits between the shore and the sea. We are the castle, the shore, the sea. As the tide rises and falls, the castle is swept away.
